Procurement Project Manager

Job Summary:
The Procurement Project Manager is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services that support manufacturing operations. This role requires independent decision-making, supplier negotiation, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and on-time supply. The Procurement Project Manager plays a key role in supplier performance management and continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage procurement activities for assigned commodities or supplier groups
Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support production, cost, and meet required due dates
Negotiate pricing, lead times, contracts, and terms within delegated authority
Issue and manage purchase orders; proactively expedite and resolve supply issues
Participate in supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions when needed
Partner with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align material availability with business needs
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers; support dual-sourcing and risk mitigation efforts
Support cost-reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure purchasing data accuracy and compliance within ERP/MRP systems
Mentor junior buyers or purchasing coordinators as needed
Maintain compliance with company policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
37 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships
Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
Ability to independently manage multiple commodities or suppliers
Preferred:
Experience with strategic sourcing and long-term supplier agreements
APICS, CPSM, or similar professional certification
Experience sourcing both domestic and international suppliers
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
